As with all trends, hair accessories change styles and materials constantly to suit the current tastes of the Fabulous.  Which of course, trickle down through the media to the rest of the population.  Baby hair accessories are not excluded from this fashion cycle, so when we see the Jolie-Pitt babies for instance . . . we want the same couture style for our little treasures.

Baby hair accessories come in all types, like headbands, hair bows, hair clips, and ponytail holders.  Headbands are generally made of cotton or a hard plastic.  You can also find them in a silk combination.  All the traditional soft baby colors are available from light pink, white, baby blue, mint green, to pale yellow.  You can find them in all sorts of other colors too so their hair pieces will always match their outfits.  You've got headbands that are elastic, ones that are braided for a little added flair, and those made with a patterned design likes ladybugs or colorful hearts.  One can find just about any type of headband out there.  Many come with a bow attached or small cloth flower.

As for hair bows for babies, these too come in a plethora of styles.  Some are even in combination with ponytail holders.  These appear to be bows in the baby's hair but it's really a ponytail adorning a bow.  Other bows are made from cotton and/or silk.  They're soft and comfortable for babies and add a delightful style to their cute little heads.  Baby hair bows of all colors can be found, even with polka dots too.  Now-a-days, stick on baby hair bows are an option.  No need for a ponytail holder at all or to tie the hair in the bow.  This works especially for those infants with very little hair or even those who don't generally like they're pulled up.  Simply stick it on for the perfect accessory.

Now we come to hair clips and ponytail holders.  Baby hair clips are made from either a durable plastic or a soft bendable metal.  The plastic hair clips simply hold the hair in place by snapping together at one end.  The metal clips hold the hair by bending from the open position to the closed position.  Either style are sold by retailers everywhere who stock baby items and accessories.  Hair clips generally include bows or some other cutesy little charm.  There's always a hair clip to match every baby fashion.  Lastly, we come to ponytail holders.  Not every infant is suited to wear this accessory as 1) they may not have enough hair or 2) they may find them uncomfortable and will pull them out.  Testing the variety of baby hair accessories on your infant will give you a sense of which looks best and which types she is comfortable wearing.  Ponytail holders are a soft elastic and come come in a variety of diameters.  Some are very thin pieces of elastic while others are a bit thicker and sturdier (which is recommended for infants with a lot of hair).  Most ponytail holders for babies come with a  bow or charm and can be found in a variety of colors.

With all there is to buy for baby, hair accessories are not the sort of items to spend a fortune on.  These items generally run between $5 and $15.  Many times they are found as package deals so rather than spend on individual items, you can get a colorful combination of hair accessories for under $10.  Packages of headbands, bows, hair clips and ponytail holders can be found at the everyday retailers like Wal-Mart, Target, Sears, Macy's, and more.  But, there are specialty stores for infants and children like Gymboree and The Children's Place.  There are even baby boutiques that can usually be found locally who carry all kind of baby hair accessories.  Then there are baby boutiques online so one can shop from the comfort of your own home or workplace.

It's the little things that matter.  And so too, are baby hair accessories a sign of parental fashion sense.  They're simply the classic finishing touch to any baby's attire.
